Kickstarter Picks: Feeble’s Fable

We can all use a little more magic in our lives. We can also use a little more in the way of imps, adventure, shaggy beasts of burden, little horned heroes, and vitamin D. Atomic Chimp has started a Kickstarter in hopes of funding its multi-genre fantasy game, Feeble’s Fable. With a little luck and some generosity, Feeble’s Fable will give us the magic, monsters, and heroism we crave–but not the vitamin D. You’re on your own for that one.

Feeble’s Fable stars a little antlered kid named Feeble. Feeble embarks on a “journey of epic proportions” and befriends giant guardian beasts in hopes of bringing joy and prosperity back to his people.

Atomic Chimp (the studio behind Kick’n Chick’nz: Medieval Carnival for the iOS) is aiming for something different with Feeble’s Fable, which is planned for release on the PC, Mac, iPhone, iPad, and Android. The studio states on its Kickstarter page that it’s not out to mimic the latest hit, nor is it looking to give birth to the next groundbreaking theme. Instead, “We are simply creating an enchanting world that is fun for all ages to enjoy, and, like a fantasy novel, allow each player to take away a unique experience for themselves.”

The gameplay in Feeble’s Fable actually fuses several genres into one big adventure. Specifically, players work through a variety of puzzles, including strategy and platforming mini-games, to stock up on food and supplies, and to progress through the game. Atomic Chimp is working to make Feeble’s Fables a “seamless blend of narration, epic music and cinematic animation that blurs the line between visual entertainment, interactive story and gameplay.”

Thinking of pledging a little something to Feeble’s Fable? Here’s what’s in store for you. For a $5 pledge, you get a “Thank You” on the game’s website, and a specially designed wallpaper featuring Feeble. For $12 or more, you get a digital copy of the game on your choice of platform. For a $25 donation, you’ll have access to the game’s beta. For $150, you’ll get a digital print from the game, signed by the dev team.

If you really want to dish out, $3,500 will earn you a studio tour and lunch with the game’s designer, Michael Ingrassia. $7,500 will earn you a mentorship with the Atomic Chimp art team.
