Draw Something is a hit iOS and Android game that encourages you to, er, draw something. If you’ve ever played Pictionary, you have a good idea of how Draw Something works, though your guessing audience is an anonymous internet group instead of a high-strung family member (“It’s dignity, Luann! Don’t you know dignity when you see it?”). In other words, there’s not a whole lot of complication or backstory behind Draw Something, but according to rumor, that’s not going to stop developer OMGPOP from putting together a TV show based on the game.
The very idea of a Draw Something television show (presumably, a game show) is intriguing: typically, game shows are born on the television and cross-pollinate over to smartphones and consoles, not the other way around. Nothing is confirmed yet, however. Techcrunch talked to OMGPOP’s chief executive, Dan Porter, and he wouldn’t comment one way or the other.
Still, it’s not hard to imagine a Draw Something show in this day and age of hot iOS properties. Rovio has been talking about a feature film based on Angry Birds (though we’re honestly stumped as to how that would work. Would it just be live-action footage of birds thumping against skyscrapers?).
Porter did share some of Draw Something‘s numbers with Techcrunch, though. The game currently has 25 million users, 10 million daily active users, and 1 billion paid ad impressions per day.
