Tetris Stars brings the series fresh new “one touch” spin to Facebook
In a lot of ways, Tetris is like the monster in a horror film that just won’t die. No matter how many times we think we’ve seen the last of Tetris, it always ends up coming back for more. Most recently, it had a weird subscription-based spin on the iPhone. Before that, it was Tetris Friends and Tetris Battle on Facebook. Now that tetromino puzzler is coming back for its third go-round on Facebook with Tetris Stars.
Tetris Stars actually has a fair bit in common with that iPhone version of the game we just mentioned, though not in the way you might think. The recent Tetris iPhone app introduced a “one touch” mode, where players were presented with a few specific options of where they could place the next piece, and they’d simply touch on the spot they chose to place the piece there. It was a unique spin on Tetris, and as far as we were concerned, it was a welcome change. Tetris Stars seems to be built around this concept.
Sure you won’t be touching the screen here – instead you’ll be using a mouse – but players of Stars will be given a few choices of where to place their pieces and will click on where they want it to go. This leads to a game with a much quicker pace than regular Tetris, which is a good thing, as Tetris Stars is all about racking up as high a score as possible within a set time – just like Bejeweled Blitz.
Tetris Stars is now available to play on Facebook in open beta. Be sure to stay tuned to Gamezebo for our full review, coming soon!
