EA’s long-running strategy Command and Conquer series is getting a new entry, and it will mark a number of firsts for the franchise. Subtitled Tiberium Alliances, the game is described as an “epic strategy MMO” that will use the free-to-play model and be playable in a web browser.
Not much is known about the game at this point, but EA has said that Tiberium Alliances will let players both compete with other players and team up with them in order to take control of scarce resources. It will be set in the “Tiberium” sub-series of the Command and Conquer universe.
While the game has many of the features of a more casual title, it sounds like EA plans on offering up a suitably “hardcore” experience. The Facebook page for the game includes the tagline “hardcore strategy, softcore time investment.”
No release date has been announced for Command and Conquer: Tiberium Alliances, but you can sign up for the closed beta at the game’s official site.
