By focusing on underserved markets in places like the Middle East and North Africa, Peak Games has now become one of the top six game developers on Facebook. To continue this growth the company has announced new game acquisitions and additional funding.

Peak has raised $11.5 million in funding, which brings its total up to $19 million. The developer, which has offices in Turkey, Jordan, Spain, and Germany, has focused on creating localised games for specific markets in places like the Middle East, North Africa, South America, and Mexico. Recently Peak announced a partnership with RockYou to bring Zoo World 2 to the Middle East in two different languages.

Currently Peak’s library of games attracts 16 million monthly active users. Those numbers are expected to continue to grow with the acquisition of two new Turkish strategy games, Umaykut and Erlikhan.

“At Peak Games, understanding emerging markets like Turkey, MENA [Middle East and North Africa], and Latin America is in our DNA!” explained founder and CEO Sidar Sahin. “We’re at a point where we know what kind of games they enjoy, how to acquire new users in specific regions, what triggers virality, and, ultimately, how to monetize. Our development studios are focusing on creating the best games on the market and we’re making sure that they’re culturally relevant.

“Now with theacquisition of Umaykut, we’re very excited for our next-generation core games.”
