War Commander brings real-time action to Facebook strategy

Military strategy games have been popping up all over Facebook recently, but Kixeye, the developer behind Backyard Monsters and Battle Pirates, is looking to do something a little different. With War Commander, which launches today, players will finally be able to engage in real-time combat, and we’ve got the trailer to prove it.

In addition to giving players real-time control over their units, War Commander also features 27 different customizable units and a persistent battle for control of the land. The game takes place in a post-apocalyptic setting where groups of people must fight with one another to control what little resources remain.

“With War Commander, we aimed to create a title that pushes the envelope of what is possible on the platform,” executive producer David Scott explained. “We’ve combined classic RTS action with the global scalability and accessibility offered by Facebook, creating a unique experience that both core and new gamers will enjoy.”

War Commander is now live on Facebook.
