Beeline Interactive, Capcom’s mobile social brand responsible for such mega-hits as Smurfs’ Village, Zombie Cafe, and Lil’ Pirates, has this morning announced a partnership with Peanuts Worldwide to bring Charlie Brown, Snoopy, and the whole Peanuts gang to mobile phones this fall in yet another freemium social release.

“Charles Schulz’s Peanuts characters are adored and recognized throughout the world. We’re thrilled to be working with Peanuts Worldwide to bring these cherished characters to smartphones and smart devices,” said Midori Yuasa, President and COO, Beeline Interactive, Inc. “With our success and experience in the smartphone freemium category we’re confident that we can deliver a social game that Peanuts’ fans will love.”

There are no specific details on what the gameplay will be comprised of, or even what the game will be called at this point, so it should be interesting to see how Beeline chooses to use the license. With Smurfs’ Village being one of the top licensed games on the App Store since its release (and still going strong), it seemed like it was only a matter of time until Capcom’s Beeline brand partnered with another existing property to bring it to the small screen. Considering the family friendly, widely-loved nature of Peanuts, it seems like this might be the perfect match for the developer.

“Partnering with a top tier partner like Capcom’s Beeline on this new virtual social game marks a pivotal step in our strategy to expand Peanuts into the digital arena,” said Neil Cole, Chairman and CEO of Iconix Brand Group, which owns Peanuts Worldwide. “Going forward, fans can expect more great news on the digital front from Peanuts.”

It would be nice to see the Peanuts gang make some solid steps into the digital frontier. Thus far the only significant footprint they’ve made on the internet was the fan-created Peanutweeter.com, which Peanuts Worldwide forced to shut down just as it was gaining momentum. Considering the universal love for Charlie Brown and friends, it seems like a big push into new mediums is long overdue.

Along with the unnamed Peanuts game, Beeline has a few other titles in the works for later this year – Dream Park, Zombie Cookin’, and Monster Pet Shop are all expected to hit the App Store in the coming months.
