Gobtron Preview

If Godzilla films have taught us anything, it’s that humanity and giant monsters just cannot place nicely together. Usually, games have us fighting the monsters; holding the line and eventually building up an army that can push them back. However, an upcoming game for the iPhone – Gobtron – will finally give players the opportunity to fill the giant monster’s shoes.

Gobtron gives castle defense games the one thing they’ve always been missing: snot rockets

The plot is… well, I’m not going to lie, the plot is gross. Like, really gross. Long story short: a giant monster from Somewhere Else battles humanity through the annals of time. However, the creature’s attacks are all based on hitting opponents with giant ropes of mucus from its nose. So, basically, it’s a defense game where you ammunition is snot rockets.

As you can see from the trailer, the game will feature some fairly bright, cartoony, and (sometimes) abstract graphics. Not only that, but players will gain access to what promise to be amazingly disgusting upgrades as the game progresses.

From the look of things, this will be a fairly straightforward port of the version of the Web game. In fact, the touchscreen interface seems like it will actually fit the game better than a keyboard and mouse does.

Gobtron is due to be released on April 1st (for some reason this seems like the most appropriate release date for this kind of game). No price point has been announced yet, but Juicy Beast has announced that it will reveal more info about the game soon. While you wait, you might want to check out the Flash version of the game here.
