Tiny Planet looks to bring big fun to the iPhone later this month

All Baboo wants to do is relax on his planet and live in peace. Of course if he got to his wish, Tiny Planet wouldn’t be much of a game. As a result, Fabulapps has him facing off against evil alien invaders in what looks like it’s shaping up to be one of the quirkiest, most enjoyable little games this spring.

The game stars Baboo, a strange, little blue alien who seems to be taking a note from The Little Prince and living on a tiny planet that he can run laps around. However a ton of other aliens are streaming in and trying to take the planetoid for themselves, so it’s up to Baboo to fend them off on his own.

Essentially, the game plays like a goofy version of early defense games like Space Invaders and Centipede. Baboo has to race around his planet and shoot the various invaders as they stream in from various corners of the screen. Players drag their fingers around the planet; Baboo will run and shoot automatically.

As the game progresses, players collect stars which are used to unlock new weapons and power-ups. The list includes some cool sounding weapons, like a fireball launcher, a lightning gun, an ice weapon that will freeze enemies.
