Having already conquered the world of peasants with We Rule, ngmoco is looking to move their social formula to a more urban environment with the upcoming release of We City for the iPhone and iPad.

While We Rule provided gamers with a medieval take on city building, We City will offer a decidedly more modern approach, drawing influence from popular building games like Social City. In fact, much of what we know about We City seems to pull from Playdom’s popular Facebook offering. For example, players will earn money through a city’s factories, and these factories will be assigned contracts to produce a variety of different goods. If you don’t come back quickly enough, your products will spoil.

Early indications suggest that fans of ngmoco’s earlier castles and crops game will find We City to be strikingly familiar to their previous offering despite the urban transformation. Players will be able to set push notifications for their factories, purchase in-game “zap” to speed up production, and enjoy a social setup that neither adds nor detracts from what was offered in We Rule. And most importantly – We City will also be available free of charge. Veterans of the last game in the series should feel right at home here.

After being so completely let down by Social City‘s actual iPhone offering earlier this year, we’re delighted to see that ngmoco will be bringing a similar formula to our mobile devices. Expect to see this one on the iPhone and iPad later this year.
