Castlevania: Encore of the Night Video

We’ve seen screenshots of this upcoming puzzler where Castlevania meets falling blocks, but we haven’t seen the game in action …until now! Konami has just released the following gameplay trailer that should give potential players a clearer indication of how the gameplay will unfold.

Castlevania Puzzle: Encore of the Night

Games that blend combat and puzzles are all the rage these days. Just take a look at Sword & Poker 2, or Lt. Fly: Rise of the Arachnids. Whether it’s turn based or real time, iPhone gamers can’t wait to throw down in a healthy mix of wits and fists. Konami is getting into the action, and they’re bringing one of their most beloved franchises along for the ride in the just announced Castlevania Puzzle: Encore of the Night.

Characters from the series most beloved entry, 1997’s Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, will be returning as featured players in this upcoming mobile puzzler. Players will once again take up the mantle of Alucard, son of Dracula, as he explores the Transylvanian home of his father.

Little is known about the actual gameplay at this time, but some screenshots have surfaced that appear to showcase a Columns or Puyo Pop style gameplay. According to a recent press release, Castlevania Puzzle will “drops players inside the walls of Dracula’s castle challenging them to solve puzzles in order to provide weapons and spells to aid players in their quest.” Whether or not this means players will have direct control over their characters actions remains to be seen.

Like any good Dracula tale, many details about Castlevania Puzzle: Encore of the Night remain shrouded in mystery. Only three things are certain at this time: it’s Castlevania, it’s a puzzle game, and it’s coming soon.
