Playdom announced the acquisition of game developer Three Melons, a company based in Argentina. In addition to having a cool name, Three Melons have proven themselves over the years to be a master of developing flash and Unity-based casual games for such companies as Lego and MTV. Recently, they launched a fast-growing Facebook soccer game, Bola! This is Playdom’s forth acquisition this year, having purchased already Green Patch, Trippert Labs and Offbeat Creations. A company they are probably not going to purchase is CrowdStar, a top social game developer in their own right, makers of the hit game Happy Island and Happy Aquarium. According to Bloomberg, talks between Microsoft and CrowdStar have been broken off. Rumors were that the companies were talking acquisition but a price was not agreed upon.
