Wizard101, the online “wizard school” virtual world that lets players summon powerful creatures and cast spells as student of magic, will be getting two major content updates in 2010. An Advanced Pet system will launch this spring, followed by the summer roll-out of Celestia, a brand new Atlantis-inspired world with new quests, a new secondary magic school, and an increased level cap.
The Advanced Pet system will give players the opportunity to hatch customized pets from millions of potential combinations, feed and train them from an egg up to powerful beings that can become valuable allies in magic duels. Players will also be able to race their pets in the Pet Derby, participate in new pet-themed mini-games.
The new world of Celestia, inspired by the lost city of Atlantis, will offer new adventures under the sea. Celestia will officially open in late summer, and starting in June Wizard101 players can start to undertake new quests that will start to reveal some of the secrets and story of the new world.
Celestia will also increase the level cap on Wizard101 characters from 50 to 60.
Wizard101 is a free-to-play massively-multiplayer online (MMO) game. Players can access premium areas and items by purchasing pre-paid cards or purchasing a subscription or Crowns online.
