Welcome to Gamezebo’s strategy guide for Nick Chase and the Deadly Diamond.

General Information

Main Menu

  • The profile selection allows you to add new players and delete current players. Select the Add button to create a new profile or click the bin icon to delete a player from the list. Up to six player profiles can be created. Select OK to select a new profile or Cancel to exit the window with the previously chosen profile.
  • The Play button starts the game with the currently selected player.
  • The Options button displays a window where music, sound and ambient sounds volume can be changed. There are toggles for full screen mode and a custom mouse cursor.
  • The Extras window has a strategy guide that can be accessed, a link to another Nick Chase game (A Detective Story), and Mini Games.
  • The Quit button exits the game without a prompt.

Normal Locations

  • Normal locations allow access to other normal, hidden object and mini-game locations in the game.
  • Objects can be examined, moved or taken in these locations.
  • Move the cursor around the normal locations until it changes. The magnifying glass is the only cursor in the game. Click on an area when the magnifying glass is shown to perform an action.
  • The menu button can be selected at the bottom-left corner of the screen to display the game menu. This is similar to the main menu, with the additions of a Main Menu button and a Continue button to keep playing the game.
  • The Task button displays the current task that needs to be completed.
  • The grey bar at the bottom of the screen is the inventory window. Items that are added here can be used on other objects in the area.
  • The bullets at the bottom-right corner of the screen can be selected to identify where an object can be found.
  • Hidden objects will sometimes need to be found in normal locations. Some of these objects require an action to take place (such as opening a drawer or moving an item) before they can be found.

Hidden Object Locations

  • There are two types of hidden object locations. In the first type of hidden object location, the aim is to find all of the items that are displayed in the list. It is not possible to give the exact locations for many of the hidden objects as the list is random each time that the game is played. Some hidden objects on the list are not random and will appear in the same place each time that the game is played. These objects will be shown with a red border on the images in this guide.
  • The second type of hidden object location is where a certain number of the same type of objects must be found. For example, finding 21 tablet pieces or 19 fuses. In this type of location, the objects are in the same place every time that the game is played, so all of these objects will be identified in the walkthrough.
  • Clicking five times in the wrong area will cause the cursor to become inactive for three seconds.
  • Find bullets in normal and hidden object locations to increase the number of hints that can be used. The bullets are randomly placed.

Mini-Game Locations

  • There are various mini-games scattered throughout the main adventure which must be solved in order to make further progress.
  • Completing a mini-game causes a new object or exit to appear in the location where the mini-game was solved.
  • The skip button becomes active anywhere from a minute to three minutes after the mini-game starts depending on the type of puzzle. When active, the skip button can be pressed to pass the puzzle.
