We can finally share with you the release dates for Mystery Case Files: Dire Grove, the hotly anticipated sixth game in the Mystery Case Files hidden object/adventure series from Big Fish Games Studios. For the first time in the series’ history, Big Fish Games will be releasing two different versions of the game: the Collector’s Edition will launch on Nov. 25 for $19.99, followed by the standard version in early December which will sell for the usual $6.99.
Here’s a run-down of the differences between the two versions:
The Collector’s Edition will come with an in-game strategy guide; bonus gameplay content allows players to earn special achievements; and a variety of concept art, video outtakes and desktop wallpapers. The Collector’s Edition is only being offered as a "Buy Now" purchase and will not have a free trial. Players will not be able to apply existing credits or coupons to its purchase. The Collector’s Edition is also only available to Big Fish Club members.
The standard edition will offer the usual try-before-you-buy free trial, and will come with Big Fish Games’ normal $6.99 price tag.
According to Big Fish games, Dire Grove begins with the discovery of an abandoned rental car on the side of the road during a freak snow storm, and will offer approximately 10 to 15 hours of gameplay that blends hidden objects and puzzles.
In another "first" for the series, much of the game’s storyline will be told through video content that has been embedded into the game as clues. Players will find tapes scattered around the town that reveal more information about the four graduate students who have disappeared in the secluded resort of Dire Grove.
