GENERAL OVERVIEW

  • Although there are strategy elements to Floating Kingdoms, it’s actually more like a mini-game collection where the goal is to earn enough resources to build a series of buildings.
  • The palace will always be the last building you have to build.
  • The buildings don’t have to be built in any particular order; you’ll always have to complete a certain set of buildings before new ones become available.
  • Since all buildings require wood and stone to build, it’s best to start out by building the sawmill and quarry if the island doesn’t start out with them.
  • There are no advantages to building one building at a time, so you might as well build as many buildings as possible at a time.


SHIPS
Pirates

  • If a pirate ship stops at your island, the pirate will demand that you give up some of your resources. In most cases, it’s easier to just give them what they want. If you don’t, they’ll curse a building, which makes it incapable of producing any resources.
  • You can only get rid of the curse by buying a potion that matches the color of the curse.
  • If you’re close to being able to build a palace and have all the resources you need, feel free to refuse the pirates’ request since it won’t matter if a building gets cursed any more.
  • Also, if you have enough resources to build the palace and a pirate ship is approaching, quickly build the palace which will trigger a cutscene and cause the pirate ship to pass through without stopping.


Traders

  • When a trader ship shows up, you can trade resources for potions and orbs.
  • Orbs and potions are kept in the chest in the upper right of your menu. Click on the chest to open it and use an item.
  • Items you’ve purchased don’t carry over to the next level, so don’t buy too many unless you plan to use them all on that particular island.
  • If it’s late in the game, sometimes it’s easier to just buy the resources you need.

Traders sell four types of item:

  • Potions – These remove curses from buildings. Make sure you buy the same colored potion as the curse on the building. (So if the curse is red, for example, buy a red potion.)
  • Orbs – Orbs can be used to operate buildings so that they produce resources automatically without you having to play the mini-game. The color doesn’t matter – they all work the same. Orbs will eventually wear out and disappear. An orb will start blinking rapidly right before it’s about to disappear.
  • Scroll – This is a mystery item. Its effects vary, and you won’t know what the scroll does until you buy it. Buying a scroll is like taking a gamble: sometimes you’ll earn more resources than you spent to buy it, and other times you won’t.
  • Resources – You can trade your resources for other ones, i.e. trade metal for flour.


BUILDINGS
Here’s a list of building types, how many resources you need to build them, what resources they produce, and what mini-game is associated with each.


Basic farm
200 Wood; 100 Metal; 0 Gold
Produces: Food
Mini-game: Silhouette matching (food into crates)
Mini-game bonus: Fill an entire group of crates without recycling any food
Mini-game ends when: The treadmill becomes completely clogged.

  • The food on treadmills will not fall off the treadmill automatically. You can let it reach the end and the items will just bunch together. It’s best to only recycle items if you absolutely have to, i.e. the entireĀ  conveyor belt is about to get clogged up.


Farm upgrade
50 Wood; 100 Metal; 0 Gold
Produces: More food
Mini-game: Same as basic farm


Sawmill
90 Wood; 50 Stone; 0 Gold
Produces: Wood
Mini-game: Mah jong
Mini-game bonuses: Clear the entire board (50 bonus wood); fill the wood pile (30 bonus wood)
Game ends when: The timer gauge drains all the way down.

  • Matching the four types of wood tiles (shown in boxes above the board) will add wood to your total. Matching other shapes (such as stars and moons) don’t earn anything, but it’s still good to clear the entire board because you earn a bonus of 50 wood.
  • Matching wood also adds to your wood pile. Each time your wood pile gets filled, you’ll get a bonus of 30 wood.
  • You don’t have to finish a mah jong board. You can exit mid-way through as soon as you have enough wood, and you’ll keep all of the wood you’ve collected so far.
  • Scoring:
  • Matching two single planks = 12 wood
  • Matching two plank piles = 16 wood
  • Matching two single logs = 10 wood
  • Matching two log piles = 14 wood


Windmill
100 Wood; 300 Metal; 0 Gold
Produces: Flour (used for making pizza in the tavern)
Mini-game: Silhouette matching (wheat onto stone mill)
Mini-game bonus: Fill a bag of flour without recycling any wheat (30 bonus flour)
Mini-game ends when: The treadmill becomes completely clogged.

  • The wheat on treadmills will not fall off the treadmill automatically. You can let it reach the end and the items will just bunch together. It’s best to only recycle items if you absolutely have to, i.e. the entire conveyor belt is about to get clogged up.


Tavern
300 Wood; 300 Metal; 0 Gold
Produces: Pizza (twice as filling as farm food)
Mini-game: Click management
Mini-game ends when: When all the people are fed you’ll automatically exit the mini-game

  • When you see a lot of people lining up in front of the tavern, it means they’re hungry and won’e work until you make some pizzas.
  • When the tavern has been built, people won’t want to eat farm food anymore.
  • Click on the ingredients to prepare the pizza. You must add ingredients in the specific order that they are highlighted in on the menu
  • Each pizza feeds 8 people
  • When you run out of ingredients, click on the chef’s bell, then on the empty ingredient container, and he’ll replace it.


Watermill
200 Wood; 0 Metal; 0 Gold
Produces: Irrigation for farms
Mini-game: Marble-popper
Mini-game ends when: when the water level rises to fill all four overflow containers, you’ll receive a message that all the farm houses are being watered and you can stop playing.

  • Building this will allow you to irrigate farms (if you see water drops over farms, they need water)
  • The water level will slowly drop while you’re outside of the watermill.
  • You can bounce marbles off the walls as well as launching them straight up. This can be useful to access hard-to-reach places.

Quarry
100 Wood; 40 Metal; 0 Gold
Produces: Stone
Mini-game: Brick-buster
Mini-game ends when: It doesn’t; you can drop the ball as many times as you like. Each time you clear a round, you’ll get a new level with the bricks and stones in different places.

  • The goal is to break the smaller bricks and then launch the ball at the stones and gems to cause them to fall.
  • Stones will only be added to your inventory if you manage to catch the large rocks and gems that fall from the screen with your paddle.
  • If you cause rocks to fall, the ball automatically returns to the paddle so you can concentrate on catching the gems instead of bouncing the ball.

Goldmine
300 Wood; 100 Metal; 0 Gold
Produces: Gold
Mini-game: Match-three
Mini-game bonus: Fill the furnace (30 bonus gold)

  • Each match of three gold rocks = 12 gold. Each match of four gold rocks = 30 gold. Matching other rocks doesn’t give you anything.
  • If you’re stuck, wait a few seconds and an arrow will reveal a possible move to make.
  • The furnace resets to empty once you exit, so you should fill it before you quit.

Palace
