Flip Words 2 is in the running for Best Word & Trivia Game of 2007 at the upcoming Zeeby Awards. We chatted with Brian Goble of HipSoft, about what makes Flip Words 2 special and why it deserves to get your vote.
Can you give us insights or fun facts about the development of this game?
Developing the multiplayer "Party" mode was a lot of fun. Once we had it working, productivity slowed greatly because we kept playing over and over… mainly because we were always trying to get the longest word for the round!
What makes Flip Words 2 special, and why should people vote for it?
I think there are three things that make Flip Words 2 special: 1) Party Mode where 4 players can work together to solve the phrase, but still go for bragging rights for finding the longest word. 2) The various themes that allow users to change the visuals and music to suit their mood. 3) The phrase submission feature which allows users to put on their creative hat and contribute to the game…and even get a credit on-screen for their phrase if it gets approved.
Besides your own game of course, what other games impressed you in 2007?
I really enjoyed The Scruffs – the voice acting was top notch and really added a lot to the game. I also played Fairway Solitaire a bunch… and I’m not even a golfer!
If you win a Zeeby, how do you plan to celebrate (aside for going to Disneyworld, of course)?
Celebrate? We’re too busy working on our next game! (But, I really am taking my family to Disneyland in December 🙂
Any final words for your fans?
Thanks for everyone for playing the game! We’re honored that Flip Words 2 has been nominated for a Zeeby. When we shipped the original version, we only had a few hundred phrases. But thanks to all the players who submitted great phrases, we now have well over 10,000 phrases to play!
Voting for the Zeebys runs from now until July 5. Click here to vote for you favorite casual games of 2007.
